The creative team that brought you an awe-inspiring Nutcracker and a breathtaking Cinderella prepare to take on their greatest challenge. Ashley Page and Antony McDonald are creating a brand new production of one of the best loved classical ballets, The Sleeping Beauty. Scottish Ballet’s take on this fairy tale to beat all fairy tales, set to Tchaikovsky’s glorious score, is set to be unveiled this Christmas.
From the stylish glamour of the 1840s to the reserved chic of the 1940s, this Sleeping Beauty will sweep through three distinct time periods celebrating Princess Aurora’s birth, her 16th birthday and then her wedding 100 years later. The real and ethereal worlds interchange as good triumphs over evil and the Lilac Fairy ensures that Sleeping Beauty gets her Prince.

The costumes will be made by specialist makers from all across the UK with materials and accessories sourced from across Europe.
